Skyline Luge Tongyeong opened its doors to the public on Friday 10 February, welcoming thousands of people through the gates over the course of the weekend.
The below-zero temperatures didn’t deter guests, with many rugging up in warm clothing just to get the chance to have their own adventure on the Luge with their family and friends.
Skyline Enterprises Executive Chairman, Mark Quickfall wishes to acknowledge the many people involved in the planning, building and opening of Skyline Luge Tongyeong, “you can all be very proud”. He continues, “the development has been a very rewarding project, with many positive relationships being formed along the way.”
This is the company’s sixth Luge site to open, with other operations located in Calgary and Mont Tremblant, Canada; Sentosa Island, Singapore and Queenstown and Rotorua, New Zealand. Skyline Luge was invented in Rotorua, New Zealand over 31 years ago and has hosted more than 35 million rides worldwide.
Social media went into overdrive as guests shared their Luge & Skyride experiences on Facebook, Instagram, Naver Blog and Kakao. This Facebook video posted by Dingo Travel went viral, receiving more than 620,000 views in a couple of days.

In conjunction with the opening, Skyline Luge Tongyeong have launched a competition to help decide on a name for their Luge track. Entrants are given a choice of 5 track names and they are encouraged to vote for their favourite option. The major prize is an exciting and adventure-filled trip for two to the home country of the Luge – Queenstown, New Zealand.
The company tagline ‘Once is Never Enough’ was supported by the guests in Tongyeong, with countless photos and videos being shared on social media over the opening weekend, showing smiles from ear-to-ear!
